Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing to formally challenge the above Penalty Charge Notice.

Response

Thank you for correspondence received on XXXXX regarding PCN XXXXXX. Your vehicle was captured by an approved device, in this case an automatic camera, passing a designated Bus Gate.
Signage is clearly present at the entrance to the Bus Gate as well as leading up to it and these are compliant with the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions 2016 legislation. Only local buses, authorised vehicles and pedal cycles are permitted through the Bus Gate during the hours of 7am to 9pm. The restriction is designed to improve traffic flow through the town, by reducing the number of traffic light changes at the junction with Victoria Way and to reduce pollution caused by stationary traffic.
As this is the first PCN you have received from Woking Borough Council for passing through the Bus Gate, I have arranged for your Penalty Charge Notice to be cancelled as a gesture of goodwill. Please note that we may not be able to cancel any further notices should you receive any under similar circumstance.

There is an Appeal Process if you letter still does not work
